Go to the Bylaws page of this website for information on garbage
collection, recycling, and other bylaws pertaining to the Birch Glen neighbourhood and the City of
Mississauga.
There is a Parking Regulations link on the Bylaws page. This gives you
all the information you will need about parking within Birch Glen.
The schools attended by Birch Glen children are some of the best in Mississauga, both Public and
Separate. Information on these schools is on the Community
Schools page of
this site.
Garbage tags must be used on any additional bags and containers over the standard 3 allowable
bags. These are available at several locations throughout the City. Information on locations is
included on the Bylaws page.
Three times during the year, there are Exemption Days when there is no limit to the number of
bags of garbage you can place at the curb. This information is also contained on the Bylaws
page.
Neighbourhood clean-ups are held twice each year, in the Spring and in the Fall. Information is
provided on this site several weeks prior to each event -- usually there are links on the Home Page
and on the Newsletter page. Watch these pages for further information.
These clean-ups target the creek, streets and boulevards of the neighbourhood, to
pick up litter and other debris. Residents are asked NOT to bring household garbage or household
hazardous waste (point cans, tires, etc.). The Region of Peel holds specific Environment Days twice
during the year for the disposal of household hazardous waste, scrap lumber / metal, electronic
equipment and reusable goods. We will let you know the dates well in advance.
Membership information is contained on the Membership page of this
site. The page includes a Membership Form which can be filled out and sent by e-mail to the
Membership Committee of the Association. Membership for one year is currently $5.
8. Am I able to put an air
conditioning unit at the side of my house?
Yes, provided that the location of the air conditioning
unit complies with the current zoning regulations. Generally, the minimum required side
yard setback of an air conditioning unit located in the side yard is 0.61m from the side
lot line, provided your dwelling is located on a lot on a Registered Plan registered after
April 1, 1991. If your dwelling is not located on a lot on a Registered Plan registered
after April 1, 1991, the side yard setback of the air conditioning unit must meet the
minimum side yard setback required for the dwelling. There are in some instances, site
specific zones which may further restrict the location of an air conditioning unit. In
order to determine the required setback of an air conditioning unit for your property,
please contact the Customer Service and Zoning Administration Section, City of
Mississauga, at 905-896-5581.
